If you’ve been experiencing any of the plethora of issues plaguing the Android 12 update on the OnePlus 9 or 9 Pro, you’re not alone. Ever since the company began rolling the update out to users, there have been forum and blog posts complaining about how unstable the software is.
It seems that one fix for users is to perform a factory reset, while not restoring from a backup, essentially wiping the slate clean. This is not a great solution, but at least it’s better than being stuck.

OnePlus has finally responded to the complaints, providing the following statement to Android Police:

“We are aware of the issues caused by the OxygenOS 12 update and our software team is fixing them. We will suspend this software update and roll out a new iteration as soon as possible.”

Unfortunately, OnePlus didn’t provide any type of ETA or guideline as to when we can expect a new version of OxygenOS 12 to roll out. If you happen to have already received the update on your device and want to go back to Android 11, it is possible. You’ll just need to download and install the correct rollback package.

From there, you’ll just simply need to follow the steps here listed on the OnePlus Forums. This includes downloading the proper APK file, along with the downgrade package from OnePlus. And as a reminder, you will want to perform a backup of your information, as downgrading to Android 11 will wipe your device completely.

Hopefully, we’ll see some type of update provided by OnePlus, either through communicating when a new version is coming or with a surprise download. No matter which way you look at it, this isn’t great for a company that is going through some issues of its own as it is absorbed by Oppo.
